Sure you could.
Pour some diarrhea into the evaporation dish. The sun will remove the water from the crap.
I would still use the WHO approved UV treatment in a PET bottle, but the distiller will get rid of any "solids".
With this distiller, and UV treatment (which is also solar) you can turn human raw sewage into drinking water.

The water that you just consumed is poison. Leaving water in the sun in a plastic bottle causes the plastic to seep into the water. This promotes cancer. The same goes with plastic wrap.
