Excellent video! The piece now known as "Pachelbel's Canon" has been heard much more often than it deserves to be. History filtered it out for centuries before it came back about 40 years ago by way of film music. But the boring cello part referred to was not written by the composer, but by some inept modern arranger/orchestrator - Pachelbel wrote the piece originally for just three violins and harpsichord.

The piece was originally written for three violins and "basso continuo" (an unspecified group of instruments performing a harmonic bass foundation, normally including a harpsichord)

Uh...he was singing the melody to Pachelbel's Canon, which doesn't *have* any words. That was the whole point of the rant--that half our modern day music carries that same tune.
