Since the beginning of the mortgage crisis one and a half million Americans have lost their homes. With banks repossessing their houses, many have been left no other option than to move into their cars.
The streets of California are now filled with people who call their car their home. Jennifer Clement, explains, "The estimated value of our house went to 120,000 U.S. dollars within a month. After losing all the money, we literally landed on the street and were forced to live in our caravan". It is a vicious circle: Without a job - no home. Without an apartment - no job.

Yes, taxes in Germany are huge; but that allow them to have social security and very good public education. The social security mechanism in Germany allow citizens to not hit the vile street in case they lost the job; allows them to have good schools for their kids without selling a kidney for it.

Because reality is "ugly" and ugliness is not marketable; reality doesn't sales Ipods, stereos, TV, fancy clocks & cars, etc. TV can not show this kind of real problems because then consumers will decide not to spend in glamorous unnecessary stuff. I really hope that marketing departments would have hard times (years) to convince citizens to buy a new cars each year; to make you buy the next top modern stereo system or to make women replace their cloths twice or three times in a year.

If the United States goes to war with Iran (or any other country for that matter) you can bet there will be a surge of unemployment and homelessness throughout America. 14 million Americans are already out of work... another 22 million are on food stamps. The US government shouldn't be focused on fighting wars in the Middle East, but rather strengthening the economy and raising the minimum wage.
