He drowned, i think on his way to a gig? or the studio? I am not entirely sure (someone please fill in the blanks). What's weird about his death was in the lyrics of his song 'so real' he talks about not being able to awake from the nightmare that 'sucked me in and pulled me under, pulled me under'... he drowned due to a low laying current in the river which pulled him under.

I love all of his music..There is such a dept in the content of his lyrics, the musical arrangements and his voice.I only really had got into his music after he'd passed away. He is my all time favorite musician. It's such a treat to find some of his rare or unreleased tracks
