Hell, don't talk about stuff you don't completely understand.
YES, the striker strip contains RED phosphorus. When the strip is heated, the phosphorus will vaporize.
The cold water tap with running water provides a cold surface for the phosphorus vapor to condense on. When the vapor condenses, it will form the WHITE phosphorus allotrope.

AGAIN. Do NOT let yourselves be fooled by the infantile comments left here at Youtube. Even if you did this a dozen times and everything went well so far, you were at all times subject to hazardous and toxic materials. If you perse have to try this than AT LEAST wear latex gloves and some kind of safety mask / goggles.
If still in doubt please consult the web about red and white phosphorus!

I did the trick, but washed my hands thoroughly with soap four times.
I didn't purposely inhale the smoke, i just breathed, as regular. I didn't even smell anything.
I also didn't use a matchbox, i used paper matches, from a hotel.
AND I DIDN'T PUT MY FINGERS IN MY MOUTH. DON'T DO THAT.

if you do this you should use latex gloves because the thing is dangerous and can form cancer cells and deform your cells PERMENATLY. this stuff is toxic. do this resposibly. wear latex gloves. please copy and paste so people know the risks their taking when they do this but still amazing effect.
