I agree 100% Celebutante22, it was long over due. He is an excellent actor, so natural. He should have won it for Malcolm X, but i'm just glad The Academy finally recognize what an awesome talent he is.

Russell Crowe got screwed! Washington was real deserving, no doubt. But, Crowe completely pulls you into the world of John Nash. You don't even realize it's happening, and by the time it's all said and done, you NEVER want to leave.

Anybody who thinks Denzel didn't deserve the Oscar is crazy. You could make the argument that he should have won for Malcolm X or Hurricane. But he said in a interview he didn't want to win for Malcolm X because Pacino at the time was 0 for 7 and Denzel had just won the previous year for Glory. Denzel felt that Pacino was overdue which he was. You could say Pacino should have won for Godfather 1 or 2, Serpico, Dog Day, etc: but he won for Scent of a Woman.

Amazing movie, flawless performance by Denzel. If you saw "making of", Denzel describes Alonzo as "confused". I wonder what he meant by that? It seems to me that he (Alonzo) has more purpose in life and plans every step with more insight and determination than any other character in the movie. To me - all other characters are confused, he just plays with their confusion. Any opinions?

yes, i love denzel but russell should have gotten it that year. he didn't because he hit some hotel worker with a phone a few weeks prior to the oscars. it was front page news...a beautiful mind easily won in all the other categories it was nominated, but russell was the only one who came up short in his category. why? b/c of the bad pr.

sincerly,he should have one it for many roles like somebody said before coz training day wasn't at all his best movie, it seems like "they" felt compel to give him this time... i mean jhon q, malcolm x(unbeliveable),hurricane etc.and also,i wonder why he wins it when he plays for the first time a really bad guy...but the most important thing is that he's been recognize now,while he is still alive.thank u MISTER WASHINGTON.very happy for you.

Man this was quite a night when he was finally given his due. One of the greatest actors of all time. I mean how many bad Denzel movies have you seen. Since 84' the guy has been the best although Will Smith is closing the gap tonight. I think that Will has been the man since the loss to Denzel
