Amazing Nana! Do you know that she has this unique voice because she has one vocal cord thicker than the other. One the 20th century's greatest voices and definitely underappreciated in terms of popularity. Even here in Greece.

I would like to know how you measure somebody's "greekness". I hope by Turkish song you don't rempetiko or laiko tragoudi because those are both greek styles of music, which simply share a few characteristics with the music of the near East. And do you know that the instrument "bouzouki" originates from ancient Greece. Good music is good music whether it's greek, turkish or anything..Everyboby knows, Nana Mouskouri knows and also knows her limitations and that she cannot sing anything.

By underappreciated I meant that people don't exactly how succesful she is around the world. And maybe that's true only in Greece but that's mainly the media's fault, not the audiences. BTW, have you seen Nana at the bouzoukia, kissing the hands of popular singers? That how humble and most of all appreciative of art in general she is.

I will ask again. How do you measure someboby's "greekness". I don't believe I'm Greek, I am Greek. What exactly makes you think I'm being supportive of my Turkish origins, which are btw non-existent? Is it my argument about bouzouki? Using a certain ethnicity, any ethnicity as an insult or compliment is never a good idea. Maybe I'm being misled. Point me towards the right direction. And I never particularly liked Dalaras or Alexiou.

Far from under appreciated she is so appreciated in the Far East just look at all the sell out concerts she gave from Japan Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia to Singapore. She is a household name. Her cds are available in all those countries and beyond. The BBC is devoting a whole evening's programmes to Nana Mouskouri on the 5th of December on BBC4 from 9pm - 11.45 pm. and repeated on the 7th of Dec and an additional programme called presenting Nana Mouskouri.
