I've always loved this song, but avoided learning it 'til now, I guess since sometimes people like to make fun of it (the fate of all things popular!)
Just for fun, I've added syllables to the well-known English words to better match the melody of the Portuguese version. Sacrilege, i know!

Photos of Anouk Aimee from Jacques Demy's 1961 film "Lola" - one of my favorites. (Did you know that the story of that movie continues in Demy's magnificent "Umbrellas of Cherbourg", and even has a brief reference in "The Young Girls of Rochefort? I've even heard there's another little-seen movie called Model Shop which continues Lola's own story.)
